Audience Profile

Audience Profile

By Stephanie Rallison

From my poll results I have learned more about what is most favoured to have in a music magazine from how the front cover should be displayed, to what is most interesting page to read in ta music magazine. I used a different sort of media from my other forms, by using a most common social network site (Facebook) I was able to advertise my Poll there by getting more results from my target audience. The results came clear to me how my magazine should be set, I have learned my front cover should be set with a variety of images and titles scattered around the cover as my results showed 40% of the votes prefered this layout. Also the most interesting part to a music magazine is interviews with music artists as the results showed 90% find this part of a magazine interesting along with a 60% vote for music news, from this I can see the audience likes to know more about their artists and their songs also anything happening in the music business. Furthermore the people strongly voted that they would only spend between £1-£2 on a magazine, this reflects on the quality of the magazine aswell. The style of music I will be focussing on is Pop as 50% of people would read a pop music magazine compared to the 20% who would prefer to read a Heavy metal genre. Lastely a monthly magazine is better suited for my audience as more information can be given and from my poll 70% of my audience would prefer to only read a monthly magazine this could reflect on the price of the magazines they read.
I was interested how my target audience get their music as tchnology is key to the music industry, only 30% of people convert music from Youtube and 50% use another form of obtaining music, this shows how music has developed and how it is easier to get music sometimes free. Also I wondered how my audience keeps up to date with new music being released and 55% of my results show they find new music from the music channels on television and 40% of my audience find out from their friends. Finaly I asked the question "what do you keep your music on?" 60% said on a form of ipod, from that I can see how new technology adds to the production of music and also helps to advertise music to the public.
